Our mission is to offer a home from home environment like a childminding setting where all staff know all the children and their families personally. We want to be able to give the children the attention and respect they deserve while in a small staff to child ratio and encourage them to learn and thrive while offering the space and resources of a nursery. The mix of the two settings make us unique and we are excited to offer the best of both settings. We designed Five Little Duckling on information and feedback from our children and their families. From the moment your child walks through the door they are in the home environment that has been designed with the health, happiness and safety of children at the heart of it.
The bungalow has a homely, cosy and friendly feel. We like to think of it as one big happy family home and this really helps the children settle in, feeling secure enough to try new things and build confidence in their own abilities. We have plenty of space and resources so that the children may have open-ended experiences in which to thrive whilst playing and being a child.
For us, it’s not about the numbers of children we can have in one room it's about knowing and supporting the children in the right way, offering new experiences and opportunities daily and supporting the children to learn skills that will prepare them for the next stage in their lives..
Swan room – Our Swan room is for children aged 2 to 4. We will only ever have a maximum of 12 children in this room. This is where our older children will be learning through play and will be eating their packed lunches.
Ducklings Room – Our Ducklings room is our specialised baby environment and is for children aged 0 to 2. We will only ever have a maximum of 6 children in this room. It is warm and welcoming to encourage our babies to explore and thrive.
Creative Room - Our creative room is where our children can explore different materials and enjoy being creative.
Sleep Room - Our sleep room is a warm relaxing room where our babies can get some rest and recharge ready to start exploring again.
We encourage children to be independent and confident in their own abilities and we support any child that may find this difficult. We have gained the trust of countless different children over the years, from the most confident, to the most anxious child that struggles to be separated from their families. Whatever the issue, we work with the child and won’t give up on them, no matter how challenging. If and when necessary, we will bring in support from other professionals such as speech and language therapists and additional support for children with my plan or have an
